Martin Madsen, Teacher

Sports is a very big part of my life and Vejle Sports School gives me an opportunity to combine my hobby and my job. I bring my joy for sports in to my teaching. I try to make sure that students experience development during their stay - giving them insight into the physical possibilities of the body. It is a huge privilege to be able to use the school's newly established sports testing center as a classroom.

Basketball has been my greatest passion for 25 years. That's why basketball also has a big place in my heart, but my sports horizon has expanded significantly in recent years. In particular, cycling, skiing and general physical training takes up an increasing part in my heart.

Qualifications
  • Cand. Scient. in Sports from Southern University of Denmark with exercise physiology as main subject.  
  • Former elite basketball player. 
  • Elite basketball coach for both women and men. 
  • DGI national instructor in Fitness.
  • Former test assistent at Team Denmark 
  • External consultant in Team Denmark.

Basketball

Basketball has always been my great passion. I have many years of experience as both a player and a coach from the best league in Denmark. Basketball at Vejle Sports School is for everyone. I find it at least as exciting to work with basketball at folk high school level as I do working with basketball on the highest level.

I have long experience making our Danish-speaking students ready for the entry exam for the police corps in Denmark. Together we put in motion a process to make you ready for the Police Academy in Denmark. I will guide and support you in this process while you make sure to keep the right attitude and effort.

Test & training

To me, it has always been interesting to know more about why my training has given results – or in some cases – why there has been no result.

In this class we have rich opportunities to get to know more about how the body reacts to a certain amount of training. Not just by looking at the muscles or experiencing an improvement in your endurance or your explosiveness, but by understanding the mechanisms behind the results. That is very interesting. And that knowledge will not only buy you credit with your training buddies, but also on a possible futures course of studies in sports or health!

With lots of personal training experience, my university degree and my coaching of students and talents I have lots of tools to optimize your personal strength training. To me, functional training with free weights and your own body weight makes most sense whether your goal is to increase your explosivity, your muscle mass or to prevent injuries.
