COMMUNITY SINGING
Once a week we get together to sing. This 45 minute class is a very traditional part of the folk high school concept. However, we sing new popular songs and songs of an older date. Radio hit songs and songs that you probably haven’t heard before. You are able to suggest your own favourite song and the students always find their common favourite song. There is always a special atmosphere in the room when we sing their common favourite song. And normally, there are lots of favourite songs and lots of great atmosphere.
Singing brings joy to life and a feeling of community and the meaning of the songs can evoke new thoughts. Those are important aspects of a stay at Vejle Sports School.
The feeling of community and joy
Singing occupies a lot of space in the high school. Even if someone doubts at first, the vast majority end up loving the group singing lessons. The feeling of community and joy wins over any skepticism, and that is one of the things that drives me the most. Seeing the students have a good time arguing about which song is the best and why we should sing it. It’s a dedication and love for the song that I really like.
